In my BA final project, City as Self-Portrait, I turned the camera toward the city as a form of self-portrait. Inspired by Chantal Akerman’s News from Home (1976), the project unfolded over five months of filming, editing, and writing, resulting in a self-reflexive short film and an accompanying text that drifted between diary, auto-fiction, and theory. Interested in the relationship between urban space, memory, and female subjectivity, I treated the process itself as part of the artwork, allowing the film and its making to mirror one another.
